Tax Advisory
Planning, preparation, entity structuring and representation before the IRS — positions taken with multi-year intent and the authority to defend them.

The Firm
Beaconshire Advisory is a remote-first advisory firm serving entrepreneurs, closely held businesses and high-net-worth individuals in all fifty states. We organize the work in three practice groups and lead every engagement from the top.
Why the firm exists
A lawyer structures the entity without seeing the return. A preparer files the return without seeing the operating plan. A bookkeeper closes the month without knowing which positions depend on how it was coded. Each is competent. None of them is accountable for the result.
Beaconshire was built to remove those seams. The tax position is informed by the legal posture; the legal posture is informed by the financial reality; and the financial reality is read with a planner’s eye rather than a preparer’s. One firm, one plan, and one party accountable for whether the math actually worked.
How the firm is organized
Each group has its own scope, deliverables and engagement cadence. Most clients retain two.

Group 02
Cash flow, forecasting, FP&A, KPI reporting and exit readiness — the finance function a growing company needs before it can justify hiring one.

Group 03
Monthly close, payroll, entity filings and nonprofit compliance — the tax-ready foundation everything else is built on.

Practice Leadership
Founder · Practice Leader, Tax & CFO Advisory
James Flecker founded Beaconshire Advisory to close the gap that costs owner-operators the most: the space between the lawyer who structures the entity, the preparer who files the return, and the finance lead who runs the operating cadence.
He is a licensed Indiana attorney holding a Juris Doctor and a Master of Business Administration, and practices before the Internal Revenue Service with unlimited representation rights in all fifty states. His work spans corporate tax leadership, national tax advisory and finance operations — from reconstructing years of delinquent corporate filings to standing in as the finance function for companies preparing to raise or sell.
How engagements are staffed
The thing most firms leave unsaid, we publish — because for the clients we want, it is the reason to hire us.
01
At most firms the partner wins the engagement and an associate does the work. Here, the person who reads your return is the person who argues your position in front of the IRS.
02
A single point of contact, a shared workspace and a named owner on every deliverable. No ticket queue, and no handoff between a planning team and a filing team.
03
When a matter calls for a valuation analyst, a cost segregation engineer or state-specific counsel, we engage vetted independent professionals under our supervision — and tell you exactly who they are and what they cost.
You will not be the client who gets the junior. There isn’t one.
How we work
Four phases, run the same way on every engagement, so you always know what happens next and what it costs.
A free 45-minute strategy session plus a read of your last return and statements. We name the largest opportunities and the largest risks before you commit to anything.
A written plan with quantified savings, prioritized actions and a timeline. You see the math behind every recommendation, and our fee set against the projected return.
We execute — elections, filings, entity changes, the CFO cadence, the systems. One point of contact and a shared workspace, not a queue.
Quarterly reviews, year-end planning and questions answered in days, not weeks. Most clients renew because the math keeps working.
Operating standards
Every engagement is scoped and priced before work begins. We do not bill hourly and we do not send surprise invoices.
Our standard response time on any client question, and same day on anything carrying a statutory deadline.
Client documents move through a secure portal with access-controlled storage and multi-factor authentication. Taxpayer identifiers never travel as email attachments.
Every recommendation arrives with the arithmetic behind it and our fee set against the projected return.
A fixed-fee diagnostic of your entity, elections, compensation, books and last three returns — delivered as a written memo, credited in full against any engagement that follows.
